Seattle Race Series
Bringing back the Seattle Winter and Spring Seattle Race Series, these are monthly 8 mile paddling and rowing races on Seattle’s inner waterways.
Paddle under 6 bridges twice and enjoy city and houseboat views. Fastest racers in SUP, ski and OC1 win a free entry to the next race!
WHO SHOULD RACE?
Open to prone, SUP, OC, row, pedal craft, surf ski, kayak. *Kayaks 13’+ and SUP minimum 12′-6″. Must know how to swim.
First race is Saturday Jan 25, starting at 10am. Next Race Dates: Sun Feb 23 / Sun Mar 22.
Hosted by Salmon Bay Paddle and Agua Verde Paddle Club.
Course – Race from Agua Verde Paddle Club on Portage Bay under the University and I-5 bridges into Lake Union, thru the Ship Canal to the Ballard bridge and back!
AWARDS – Fastest times in OC1, SUP and Surf Ski categories win free entry at next race. All top 3 times receive an award.
FEES: 1/22 – $35 pp (1 person craft); $55 2p craft); Dragon Boats $225.
RACE REQUIREMENTS – PFDs required to be worn for racers plus leashes for SUPs. No PFDs will be DQ.
PARKING – Free lot across street (see pic) and paid street and marina parking. Directions
BOAT SET-UP – Free lot grass strips and round grass area by AV docks (See inset photo). *Stay off other UW property.
LAUNCH: AV Docks and Public dock off paid lot by AV (by houseboats).
8:30am Sign-in Table Opens *Check-in & sign waiver.
9:15 – Registration Closes
9:30am – Safety Meeting for all participants and safety volunteers.
10am – **Race Start
Noon or 12:30 – Awards
1pm – Event ends.
RACE COURSE TIPS AND HAZARDS: U-Bridge go through sides – not main channel / Gas Works go wide – shallow on point / Stay to sides in Ship Canal / Watch for deadhead log north end of Ballard Bridge / Boats have right-of-way.

Skill Prerequisites: Intermediate to Advanced
You should be comfortable paddling 8 miles on flat water with possible wind and small waves or boat wakes. Open to all human powered paddling craft. No SUPs under 12′-6″ or kayaks under 14′.
All racers will be required to wear a PFD. SUPs will be required to wear a PFD and leash.
