Bringing back the Seattle Winter and Spring Seattle Race Series, these are monthly 8 mile paddling and rowing races on Seattle’s inner waterways
FIRST RACE: January 17 – The 5 Bridges Race (8 miles). Agua Verde Paddle Club to Ballard and back.
Hosted by Salmon Bay Paddle and Agua Verde Paddle Club
This is a ‘real on-water race’ with Virtual Race shore safety protocols following current Phase1 Regs (1/11/20) with online registration only, strict distancing and masks on shore and 2 min segmented starts for distancing. No land event before/after. Online awards.
Race Fees: $25 for 1 person craft until 1/15 / $50 for 2p from the same household / $35 on 1/16 for 1p / $55 on 1/16 for 2p.

Paddle under 5 historic Seattle bridges while navigating Seattle’s iconic Ship Canal from Portage Bay to Ballard and back.

WHO SHOULD RACE?
Open to prone, SUP, OC, row, pedal craft, surf ski, kayak.
- Kayaks 13’+ and SUP minimum 12′-6″. (due to finishing under 2 hrs)
- Must know how to swim.
- Team or 2 person boats should be within the same household.
- Must finish under 2 hours per Phase 1 regs (1/11/20)

RACE REQUIREMENTS – PFDs required to be worn for racers plus leashes for SUPs. Prone paddle board and rowers can carry on craft. No PFDs will be DQ.
PARKING / LAUNCHING
LOCATION – Agua Verde Paddle Club 1307 NE Boat Street Seattle, WA 98105 Directions
PARKING – Free street (Sunday) parking and Free lot across street (see pic) and paid marina parking. Directions
BOAT SET-UP – Free lot grass strips and round grass area by AV docks (See inset photo). *Stay off other UW property.
LAUNCH: AV Docks and Public dock off paid lot by AV (by houseboats).

SCHEDULE:
8:20-9:00 – Racer set-up. Be ready for your heat times.
9:30AM – Get on the water to warm up and be ready for your heat start time
10AM – *RACE HEATS START – Divisions in groups of 10 launching minutes apart
Noon – End on-water event. Awards sent online after race.

Skill Prerequisites: Intermediate to Advanced
You should be comfortable paddling 8 miles on flat water with possible wind and small waves or boat wakes.
Open to all human powered paddling craft. No SUPs under 12′-6″ or kayaks under 13′.
All racers will be required to wear a PFD. Prone and rowers can carry PFD on craft. SUPs will be required to wear a PFD and leash.
