Surf Ski Training

Learn basic through intermediate surf ski training with a private class customized to your skill level and interests.

Whether you’re interested in racing, touring, surfing or recreational paddling this class will help you get more balanced, learn how to read water to make smarter on-water decisions and paddle with more power and less effort.  Surf ski training is available all year.

You should have your own ski but I can provide all other rentals such as wetsuits, life jackets and more.

Beginners:

  • Learn how to find your balance using on-land training as well as easy on-water techniques.
  • Find out how to use leg drive for more power
  • Learn about different paddling methods and styles for calm water and wind
  • Learn how to paddle either with a wing or kayak paddle.
  • Get comfortable paddling with boat wakes, in wind and rough conditions.
  • Find out how to self-rescue
  • Find out how to outfit your ski to carry more stuff.
  • Explore methods of avoiding cramps and paddling healthier in your ski
  • Find out where to paddle in the PNW

Intermediate:

  • Learn how to downwind in the Pacific Northwest if conditions allow.
  • Find out how and where to surf your ski in the PNW – From boat and wind waves to tidal rapids and coastal waves.
  • Learn how to read water so you can make smarter route decisions and paddle faster, easier.
  • Find out how to outfit your ski to carry more stuff.
  • Explore methods of avoiding cramps and paddling healthier in your ski
  • Find out where to paddle in the PNW
  • Introduction to open water racing

DETAILS

Schedule: Private lessons only on your schedule.

Duration: 3 hours  Location: Shilshole Bay in Seattle.

Skill Level: Beginning to Intermediate Level. Must know how to swim. 

RATES:

Group Class 3 – 4 students – 190 per person – With rentals / 169 per person with your gear.

2 Person Class: 223 per person with rentals / 190 per person with your own gear

1-1: 299 – With rentals / 273 with your gear.

RENTALS INCLUDE:  Vest PFD, 4/3mm wetsuit, hooded vest, booties. gloves, hoods.

Alumni Discount: $10 off per person.

Covid-19 Update: Paddling is a naturally distanced activity and great for much exercise and fresh air. We’ll maintain a 6′ distance on shore and on-water, recommended mask use on shore. All gear is always cleaned.
