SUP BASICS
LEVEL 1 OR 2



Learn a solid forward stroke, three turns, how to stop, go sideways, paddle backwards, how to fall safely and get back on the board. At the end of this class you'll have enough skills and confidence to paddle on your own on flat water and bumps such as boat and wind waves. You'll also have stronger skills than many paddlers who have been paddling for years. We will also discuss making smart decisions, how to read the water, day trip planning and marine navigation. Good balance not required! You may see harbor seals, bald eagles, sea lions & marine life, as well as views of the Olympic Mountains, Mt Rainier, Mt Baker and Bainbridge and Whidbey Islands.

Level 2 - For those who have taken our SUP Basics Level 1, SUP Sampler or has similar experience. Refine your forward stroke, learn new turns, increase your stability on bumps and build your skills paddling in wind and current. If available learn how to surf boat or freighter waves..

Routes: Shilshole Bay, Shilshole Marina or Chittenden Locks depending on conditions. More experienced paddlers may visit the West Point Lighthouse if conditions allow.

    Location: Shilshole Bay, Seattle. See below about custom locations.
    Duration: 2.5 hours.
    Schedule: Sunday mornings 9-11:30am.
    Instructor to Student Ratio: 1:4

    Instructor Follow-up. Rob will send you a summary of skills you learned in class. He'll stay in touch with you after class to assist with finding affordable paddling equipment and offer tips on where to paddle in the NW.

    What's the difference between this class and our 90-minute SUP sampler class? You'll learn more skills and have 2x more water time.

    Who Should Attend?
    Beginners or those seeking a refresher class. Ideal for individuals or groups looking to gain a solid foundation of safe and efficient paddling techniques.

    Rates
    Group Rate: $135 per person. Classes with 2 – 4 students.
    Individual Rate (1-1): $189. Allows for most personalized coaching.
    All rental gear is included with cost: Stable board, paddle, PFD (life vest), leash, wetsuit, booties, gloves. 

    Alumni/Repeat Classes: $10 off per person.

    Can you offer this class near me?  This class can be taught at a location of your choice for the same cost in Seattle. Add additional travel fees (and/or ferry fees) for classes outside of Seattle.
